You know B...Thanks for the invitation, Charlie. :)

You know Brubeck is my musical hero. I was interested to read your impressions of the album as a whole & the individual pieces, so I'm sorry you didn't go into more detail (are they never satisfied?). However, since you wrote that you don't want to come off looking foolish, I'll cut you some slack. :D

Part of the appeal of Take Five at the time was that the teenagers had already been exposed to their parents' big band groups. While not all, a good chunk of the bands had a jazz foundation, so by the time the DBQ, Miles Davis, etc. came on the scene, the kids (and their parents) were somewhat familiar with the genre', or at least elements of it. Not to mention that it's just damned good music.Pegshttp://www.myspace.com/katzencatsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12331855.post-85540136296100886782009-09-24T11:22:33.858-04:002009-09-24T11:22:33.858-04:00Like you, I don't know enough about jazz to co...Like you, I don't know enough about jazz to comment with any conviction, but following this review, I'm going to check this album out. It sounds like it might be fun.

Thanks for the steer!music obsessivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16191742084494035205noreply@blogger.com
